Valeen Energy LLC is a family run office located in Cherry Hills Village, Colorado focused on acquiring oil and gas assets in the Rocky Mountain region. Enrique Nelson started Valeen in 2018 as he wanted to focus on building a long lasting family run business cultivated through the business relationships he established over his 13 years of corporate service. Enrique established a love for the exploration side of the business and was part of a number of significant oil and gas discoveries throughout the Rocky Mountain region.
The Valeen name comes from Enrique Nelson’s ancestral surname from Sweden, Wallin (pronounced “Valeen”). Nils Olaf Wallin came to America in 1877 from Skog, Gavleborg, Sweden and grew up in rural Minnesota. It is believed that when Nils and his family came to the American port of entry that they introduced themselves in Swedish fashion by stating, “I am the son of Nils” as his father too was named Nils. From then on he was known as Nils Nelson and later on as Nels Nelson. The Valeen name carries a history of exploration and mining natural resources as Nils worked in the granite quarries outside St. Cloud, Minnesota in the early 1900’s (pictured here).
